Flute/piccolo lessons (dwarsfluit)

In these lessons I will guide you in your musical journey to learn playing the flute! I teach from beginner to advanced levels.

If you start without any experience we will start in front of a mirror where I will show you Flute Pedagogy and Repertoire study. This entails breathing work. I will explain how to breathe and stand properly. Because this is all part of the piccolo or flute study. You will then be able to see your breathing and posture in the mirror, which makes it easier to adjust.

In the first class you will also learn:
- How to breathe in flute to get the right sound. Which we will practice.
- How to put the flute together and study the 3 parts, the front, body and back.
- How to put the flute together
- To name fingers
- How to place your fingers on the flute

A good theoretical base will be a headstart when learning any instrument, therefore I advise you to first learn how to read notes as this will increase your study progress significantly.

Also, I advice to get your own instrument as soon as possible, if you are still unsure if this instrument is something for you I suggest to rent an instrument before buying. I have great experiences with matthewsmusic in Edam and adamsmuziek in ittervoort. But there will be others ofcourse.

In the beginning I will provide the books and studymaterials. If you go on, we will discuss what material you need

duets: helps develop hearing and intonation

When you are a little experienced, we will play more advanced songs and duets to help develop hearing and innotation.

When you are more advanced I will ask you are you preparing for an exam or solo in an orchestra? Or something else?
And we will make a plan to fine-tune your play. Here I focus on practically playing the instrument and instead of just playing a song, playing a song beautifully.

I try to create a relaxed and enjoyable environment always, as I believe this is important when studying and enjoying an instrument.

Parents or guardians are allowed to join my classes if preferred.
