About me
Hi I am sophia and I am a composer and music teacher based in Rotterdam, currently pursuing a Master's degree at Codarts University of the Arts.
In 2020 I worked as a music teacher and choir conductor in Patras (Greece). In 2019- 20 I was the coordinator of the Composition Lab, at the Ionian University and organized Music Workshops for children, in collaboration with the Historical and Folklore Museum of Longos (2020) and with Paxos Islands Foundation (2015).
I studied "Music Composition" (bachelor's degree) in the Department of Music Studies of Ionian University (Corfu, Greece), with professors Dimitra Trypani and Vasilios Kitsos. In 2018-19 I studied Composition in HKU Utrecht Conservatory with professors Caroline Ansink and Jeroen D'hoe. I have received certificates in "Fugue", "Counterpoint" and "Harmony" (class of Lucas Adamopoulos) as well as a Diploma in "Byzantine Music". I have also studied piano and classical singing.
I have composed works for symphony orchestra, chamber music, for voices, solo instruments, electronic music, mixed media performances and a chamber opera. I have arranged songs and have collaborated with ensembles and musicians in both Greece and the Netherlands.
I am a continuous member of choirs and vocal ensembles. As a member of the "Ionian University Chamber Choir" I have performed in several concerts in Greece and abroad (Athens Megaron Concert Hall, Festival of Young Artists Bayreuth, Saint Paul Basilica Rome, Carnegie Hall NY).
